#1. Partnering In Projects
A Fresh Look At Collaborative Working Agreements (CWA) In Construction Projects.

What are the issues facing the Construction Industry?

  • The Industry is suffering from a major decline.
  • Construction is a significant part of a country's GDP; eg. 4% in Australian , 8% in the UK and 5% in the US.
  • There is a growing trend towards ever increasing litigation.
  • Poor project briefs, adversarial tendering practices, late deliveries - all will reduce profitability.

Sir Michael Latham, an ex-Director of the UK House Builders Federation, was commissioned (1990's) by the UK Government to head a year-long enquiry. The objective was to end "the culture of conflict and inefficiency that dogs Britain's biggest industry".

Sir Michael's issued in 1994 a wide ranging report on the construction industries troubles and strife.

Collaboration (working arrangements) between partners was thought to produce better outcomes - more focus on costs rather than prices - effective project management would delivering superior results as well as improved performance.

Collaborative working is the process for people to operate together aligning interests for successful outcomes.

Without exception, people who have experienced CWA stated that they would use it again on future projects.

This seminar presented by Dr. Raf Dua, will explain the practicabilities of CWA. And explain why in Australia, Micro Planner X-Pert was selected for project planning and control and for its Earned Value reporting capabilities.

#2. Performance in Industry through Resource Scheduling

Synopses:
